Everything you need to install, operate and maintain your Nouvak air conditioning unit.
1. Getting Started
Thank you for choosing a Nouvak air conditioning unit. This guide covers the basics of installation, everyday operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. For model-specific details, please also refer to the manufacturer manual included with your unit.
When your unit arrives, check the box for: the indoor and outdoor units, a remote control with batteries, a mounting bracket and installation hardware, and the manufacturer's warranty card. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us at info@nouvak.com before installation.
2. Before You Begin — Safety First
- Always switch off and isolate the power supply before any installation or maintenance work.
- We strongly recommend installation is carried out by a qualified Nouvak engineer to ensure safety and to keep your warranty valid.
- Keep the unit and remote control away from water and direct heat sources.
- Do not attempt electrical repairs yourself — contact a qualified engineer.
3. Installation Overview
The indoor unit should be mounted on a sturdy wall, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, with at least 15cm of clearance above and on either side for proper airflow. The outdoor unit should be placed on a flat, stable surface with adequate ventilation and at least 30cm of clearance from walls or obstructions.
If you booked installation with Nouvak, our engineer will handle site assessment, mounting, pipework, electrical connection and a final system test — all covered by our workmanship guarantee.
4. Operating Your Unit
Your remote control gives you full control over your unit's settings:
- Power — turns the unit on or off.
- Mode — switch between Cool, Heat, Fan, Dry and Auto modes.
- Temperature — use the up/down arrows to set your desired temperature (typically 16°C–30°C).
- Fan Speed — adjust from Low to High, or set to Auto to let the unit decide.
- Swing — controls the direction of airflow for even room coverage.
- Timer — schedule the unit to turn on or off at a set time.
- Sleep Mode — gradually adjusts temperature for comfortable overnight use.
5. Maintenance & Cleaning
- Clean the indoor unit's air filters every 2–4 weeks during regular use to maintain efficiency and air quality.
- Wipe the indoor unit casing with a soft, dry cloth — never use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, dust and debris, and ensure nothing blocks its airflow.
- We recommend a professional service once a year to check refrigerant levels, clean internal coils and ensure your system is running efficiently — you can book this through our Services section.
6. Troubleshooting
Before contacting support, these quick checks resolve most common issues:
- Unit not cooling/heating — check the filter isn't blocked, and confirm the mode and temperature settings on the remote.
- Remote control not responding — replace the batteries and ensure there's a clear line of sight to the unit.
- Unusual noise — switch off and check nothing is obstructing the indoor or outdoor unit; if it persists, book a service.
- Water leaking from the indoor unit — this is often due to a blocked condensate drain; switch off the unit and contact support.
- An error code is displayed — note the code and contact our support team, who can advise or arrange an engineer visit.
7. Safety Precautions
- Never insert fingers or objects into the unit's air inlet or outlet.
- Do not operate the unit with wet hands.
- Ensure the unit is properly earthed and connected to a suitably rated electrical supply.
- In case of unusual smells, smoke, or sounds, switch off the unit at the isolator and contact us immediately.
8. Warranty & Support
Your unit is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and installations carried out by Nouvak engineers are covered by our workmanship guarantee — see our Terms & Conditions for full details. To make a warranty claim or book a service, contact our support team with your order number and a description of the issue.
